Garnacha 100%)
Altitude: Between 530 and 650 meters | 1,750 - 2,100 feet
Average vine age: 48 years
Aging: A small portion of the wine (approximately 15%) is aged for six months in French oak barrels, while the rest remains in stainless steel tanks to preserve its freshness and vibrancy.
Origin:Vineyard Profile: Grapes come from various Garnacha plots located on the Casa La Rad estate in Ocón Valley, within the Rioja Oriental region. Grown at an altitude of between 530 and 650 meters and surrounded by biodiversity, these vines benefit from a diverse environment that promotes slow ripening and a rich, layered bouquet unusual for rosé.
The soils, composed of alluvial clay and limestone, with stonier areas at higher elevations, contribute freshness, minerality, and balance to the wine.
Winemaking and Aging:Winemaking: Fermentation takes place with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks, with a maceration period of 15 to 18 days at controlled temperatures to preserve the aromatic intensity and varietal expression of the Garnacha grape.
Tasting Notes:With a brilliant pink color and salmon hues, the wine offers an expressive bouquet with notes of apricot, peach, and red berries like strawberry and redcurrant, accompanied by delicate floral aromas. On the palate, it is fresh and balanced with good acidity, a silky texture, and a long, refreshing, fruit-driven finish.
Additional Comments:Tim Atkin MW ( 2024 vintage): “The village of Ausejo, in the Rioja Oriental, is the source of this splendid rosado, made entirely from garnacha . Combining stainless steel and 15% of components lightly aged in wood, it is a lively and fragrant wine, with aromas of anise, red currant, and rooibos tea, and a crisp, refreshing finish. 2026–29.” (92 points)
