Scale as a privilege.

Set in the Ocón Valley, in Rioja Oriental, Casa La Rad is one of the largest wine estates in Rioja.

But here, scale does not translate into volume.

The range of altitudes, exposures, and soils offers something far less common: the ability to choose.

Only a portion of the estate is dedicated to vineyard.
Only a fraction of that becomes wine under our name.

To select parcels.
To refine decisions.
To shape each wine for precision, not necessity.

In a place like this, value lies not in how much is produced, but in the freedom to refine each choice.

The Ocón Valley, within Rioja Oriental, unfolds as a landscape of gentle elevations, open horizons, and shifting light.

Rolling hills, scattered woodland and small vineyard parcels define a terrain that is varied, yet quietly coherent.

Here, beauty is not constructed.
It emerges from a landscape that remains broad, intact, and undisturbed.

Viticulture exists within a wider natural scale—one that extends beyond the vineyard itself.

A viticultural paradise

The vineyard extends across 112 hectares of the estate—only a small part of its total surface—yet spans a vertical range of 150 meters between the lowest and highest parcels.

At the highest point of these plots, 675 meters above sea level, lies the venerable "Casa de La Rad" vineyard, which encompasses 23 hectares of Garnacha, Malvasía, and Viura planted in 1974 and 1975.

Across the estate, the average vine age exceeds thirty years.

soils and elevations

The distinctive landscape of Casa La Rad is defined by varied elevations and exposures.

This results in a broad range of soils:

From soils similar to those of the Ebro Valley—alluvial, clayey, and calcareous—in the lower parts of the estate, to higher, more mountainous plots: rockier and with a higher iron content.

This complex interaction between soils, altitude, grape varieties and natural ecosystems shapes the character of the property.

But the true complexity of Casa La Rad is revealed where it matters most: in the glass.
