State-of-the art meets the “art of the estate”

The Casa La Rad winery stands out for its modern, functional design: a nod to the future and to innovation that in no way turns its back on the winemaking traditions of our region, or the unique natural dynamics of our estate.

Casa La Rad has advanced technological capabilities for creating wines of peak quality and fruit expressiveness, with a wide range of temperature regulated stainless steel tanks, as well as an impressive barrel room of French and American oak barriques.

The Casa La Rad winery features advanced technology and an impressive barrel room of predominantly French oak, ideal for wines of superior fruit expressiveness and terroir transparency.

Casa La Rad is proud to represent the Rioja DOCa. We choose not to employ traditional Rioja designations, which place minor constraints on how we craft our wines. Our winemakers are single-minded in their mission to make sure the unique terroir of our biodiverse wine estate shines through in every bottle.

In the winery’s temperature and humidity controlled barrel room, French oak predominates, with over three hundred 225-liter and 500-liter barrels from best-of-class cooperages, including Seguin Moreau, Berthomieu and Ermitage. All barrels receive personalized toasting treatments. About 20% of total oak aging is done in new barriques, depending on the best approach for a given wine.

Larger-sized oak barrels are also available for selective barrel-fermentation and small batch experimentation, including malolactic fermentation of powerful white wines like those sourced from Casa de La Rad old-vine parcels.

The winery is overseen by head winemaker Jean-Philippe Pélanne, with support from veteran Logroño-based consultant Goyo Gordaliza. Both men prioritize minimal intervention approaches that maintain freshness and fruit expressiveness, while also maximizing the complex nuances derived from the estate’s unique and diverse terroirs.
